Lots of new releases

Posted on February 6th, 2012

A couple weeks ago the blog “The Metal and Hardcore Times” released a “Top 50 Releases of 2011″ chart, and “Welcome to Palm City” came in 3rd place. You can see the chart by clicking the image below:

A week or two ago we shot the “Live at The Bear’s Den” video for Mojo Kick. The shoot went great, and the live recording also came out fantastic. The video is now in the editing stages being done by Nick Brecken from Drift Design Studios, and we are hoping to have it out over the next week or two, fingers crossed.

The Mojo Kick self titled EP is pretty much finished also. I have delivered the masters to the band, and we are just waiting on the artwork at this point. They have released one more track to give you a little teaser of what is to come, and it can be heard below:

Another project that you can now hear is a song by Sayings, which is available on their facebook page Here.

As far as other random happenings, Justin and I have been working on the new lighting arrangement for the control room. We have added a few lamps and some string lights hanging from the ceiling. We are getting there. Also, Auburn had their cd release last week and used the den as a practice space leading up to it. It was great to have those dudes around. If you haven’t picked up their new album yet, it is available on itunes, and is called “Parallels”. I highly recommend it.

Busy week as usual. I have Collision, Focus on Everest, Pride of the Atlantic, and Vic Camelo coming in this week. Keep on Keepin on.

So many new projects

Posted on January 20th, 2012

First off, I would like to say that I am extremely fortunate to be working with so many talented and fun individuals. With so many ongoing projects, I get to hang out with different people pretty much everyday.

Over the past few days we completely sold out of the first run of Bear’s Den shirts. There were almost 30 left going into this week, and they are now all gone. They were sold to raise money to help with medical bills for one of our Franchise Players here at the Den, Steve Furtado. I can’t thank everyone enough for stepping up and helping out. I am already working on getting a bunch more of them, along with tank tops and sweatshirts also.

Shred of Salvation

As far as whats been going on at the studio, I am finishing up mixing a bunch of projects, which is perfect because a whole slew of new ones just got started.

A band called Shred of Salvation finished up tracking their 3 song demo a couple weeks ago, and I am in the final stages of the mixing. If things go according to schedule, I am hoping to have it finished up by next week.

Sayings came in and finished up the vocals for one of their songs, so me and Justin are going to attempt to bang that out next week also.

Collision Drum Tracking

Last week Homecoming, a new band from RI came in and began tracking 5 songs. We got all the drums laid down, and they are coming back in tonight to work on Bass and Guitars. This band features Tristan Bradshaw from 80-SS and Unsung.

The band Collision has made a reappearance back into the studio. They are recording 3 new songs, of which we finished all of the drum tracking for. They have cassettes made of the last demo we did, if you are interested contact them via their facebook page here.

Artrageus Drum Tracking

Another new project is a band tentatively called Artrageus, formerly known as Pride of The Atlantic. They spent last weekend in the den, and we just about wrapped up their new demo. They will be returning next week to finish up some vocals and final touches. This band features Andrew Davis of Sun of Sound and Something About Horses

The Mojo Kick EP is 99% done. I am just waiting on the final notes from the band to see if there are any final changes they want made before mastering. So excited about getting this out. I have been listening to it a lot. They are actually coming into the studio on the 28th to work on a little something something to help spread the word about the new album. The project is going to be a collaboration with Incognito Mosquito and Drift Design Studios.

Brad Goff from Artrageus

Tomorrow Sic Vita returns to the studio to record a song. It’s been a while since i’ve seen these guys and i’m looking forward to working with them again.

The last update that I can think of, is the band Something About Horses finished tracking everything for their EP. I will begin mixing that one very soon.

Les Racquet has released their EP “Be Water My Friend” which was Produced / Engineered / Mixed by Mike Conway from Drift Design Studios, and Mastered here at The Den by yours truly. It’s a cool album, and Mike did a great job.

Rock and Roll

Posted on January 4th, 2012

So I am in the final stretch of the mixing stage of the Mojo Kick EP, and I don’t think I have ever been so happy with a project, as I am with this one. On top of all of that, I am teaming up with Incognito Mosquito and Drift Design Studios to film another episode of Live at The Bear’s Den with Mojo Kick towards the end of the month. You can get a sneak peak of one of the songs off the EP, and also the song which will be featured in the episode of Live at The Bear’s Den Here:

The Bear's Den T-Shirt
So with the new year, things are starting off busy as usual. January is just about booked to the brim with a bunch of different projects. Also, Eric Silva of EarthShine Business Development is designing a new website, and I am hoping to make some progress with the montage video for 2011.

Lastly, the first wave of t-shirts came in. They are moving fast and I am going to have to order another shipment of them sooner than later. I am extremely happy with how they came out.

Last Post of the Year

Posted on December 28th, 2011

So over the past couple weeks I overhauled the control room, re-painted it a dark blue, got some lava lamps, and cleaned it up. I still plan on re-doing the lighting hopefully sometime in January. I’ve had some scattered sessions, but mainly have been focusing on mixing a bunch of projects. Also took on Mastering an EP by a band called Les Racquet called “Be Water My Friend.”

Lots of fun things in store for the new year. January is filling up fast with tons of projects and I am excited.

See you all in the new year!

New Releases / First Album Review!

Posted on December 7th, 2011

So first off, Morris and The East Coast have released their new Album “Wolf City” which can be downloaded Here. I recorded the first two songs (Four-Hundred Ninety-Five, and Summer Sweat Blues) here, and the album was also mastered here by yours truly.

The new Ligeia EP “Welcome To Palm City” received it’s first review (that I have seen), which can be found on the Take Your Shot Fanzine website.

Last night Sayings was in the studio, and we finished up all the instruments and got started on vocals. Over the weekend Shred of Salvation came in and began recording 3 songs which we will be finishing up towards the end of the month.

Next week Painting begins, and hopefully I can figure out a new lighting system to go along with it for the control room. Lastly, the t-shirts should be coming in within the next week or two. I am so excited about them!

On my Hustle

Posted on November 29th, 2011

So after spending a week in England in the beginning of November, I have been back in the states and hard at work on a ton of projects. Ligeia’s album “Welcome To Palm City” is available for free download Here. So far over 4100 people have downloaded it. I Finished up mixing 2 live tracks for Morris and The East Coast, and then mastered the full album, titled “Wolf City” which should be out sometime in the near future. Also finalized the This Is A Movement EP, which is set for a December 9th release date.

Started up on 4 new songs with Focus on Everest, they spent a weekend in the Den and we cranked out pretty much all the instruments, and we are starting in on vocals this week. Over the past 4 days I had an avant garde band in tracking their EP. The band is currently going by the name Something about Horses but they are possibly doing a name-change before releasing anything. Next week Sayings is coming back in to finish up guitars and bass, so we can move on to vocals.

In studio news, got a fancy new 32″ flatscreen computer monitor so that people a mile away can see everything I am doing. Big plans for December… thinking about painting the control room a darker color and adding dimmer lights. Also I have been in contact with 2 different companies in regards to sweatshirts/shirts for the merch designs. I am hoping to get those done by Christmas.
